A yard crew may provide HOS (Hours of Service) relief from locations up to 25 miles outside the switching limits, or a crew may service a customer at locations up to 20 miles outside of switching limits, without incurring a penalty. In order to qualify as hours of service relieve the train crew that originally was on the train must have tied up less than two hours before you are sent to Dogcatch the train.
A yard crew may not perform any other work outside of switching limits or provide HOS more than 25 miles outside of the switching limits. If a yard crew performs any other work, claim code D2 for a penalty day at road rate.
