SMART-TD Local 324 is a Non-profit, regional, Rail Road union comprised of three separate Local Commitee’s of Adjustment (LCA). The Local 324 LCA’s are:
- LCA 001: Representing NP Road and NP Road Switchers.
- LCA 386A: Representing GN Road and GN Road Switchers.
- LCA 001E: Representing Engineers, Hostlers and Locomotive Engineer Training Program students.
Each LCA is staffed by a Local Chairperson, Vice Local Chairperson and a LCA Secretary. Contact information for an Officer of Local 324 or LCA representative can be found on the union information boards at on-duty locations. As a member of Local 324, you should also have received a copy of the Local 324 Officers roster from the Secretary.
We exist to promote a safe and productive work environment, that values the contributions of its members. Striving to improve workplace culture, foster a sense of belonging, and advocate for better leadership are just a few of our mission objectives.

Education
Education is vital to the success of our efforts. We make an effort to provide an easy way to access documents and claim information for our members, so they can be informed about contracts, agreements and public board awards (PLBS).
Accurate understanding and application of agreements enables your local to better ensure what you earn, is paid to you.
Representation
Discipline – Locally and at the General Chairmanship Level, Smart-TD officers do their best to protect your job and ensure equitable outcomes, for at fault employees. In the event of a unjust termination, SMARTTD officers we work hard to litigate your arbitration.
Wages – Wage claims can be denied or wages reduced for many reasons such as missing information, incorrect denials, or electronic error. Each month we review, negotiate, and if needed, arbitrate your unpaid wage claims.
Contract Negotiation – We work hard to make sure the needs and concerns of our members are represented in contract negotiations.

Through collective bargaining, Smart-TD has done a lot to negotiate a wide range of benefits beyond just Gross Wage Increases, Health Care, and Paid Time Off.
